The neighbors have started demolishing their building.
So, one of the geckos has lost its home. He was the long-term resident of this place.
Workers say the full demolition would take about two weeks, so I decided to give in and go out today.
While browsing Google Maps, a place called Motel Mexicola in Seminyak caught my attention.
Its business hours were listed as 11:00am to 01:00am.
I misunderstood and thought it was a lunch spot run by a chef working somewhere in Seminyak during their break.
So I hurried off to Motel Mexicola.
Unfortunately, I got stuck in traffic and arrived at 12:45.
Up until that moment, I was still wondering, “Why would such a big place only be open for two hours?”
Turns out, it wasn’t 1 p.m.—it was 1 a.m.
As I headed to the parking area, the security guard pointed me to, someone hurled a string of curses at me.
Turns out it was a one-way street.
Had I noticed, I never would’ve gone that way.
In the end, I was the driver, so I had no excuse.
Still, it would’ve been nice if he had given me a heads-up before I took the wrong way—at least enough warning to mentally brace myself for the verbal assault.
Thankfully, aside from one angry taxi driver, everyone else was understanding and helped me safely find my way out.
Motel Mexicola was a large, vibrant restaurant with bold decor and a constant stream of guests.
The atmosphere was so unique—it felt like being in yet another foreign country while already living abroad.
(In short, I really liked it.)
It’s hard to describe, but personally, I felt a distinct difference —not just in the decor and music, but also in the staff’s attitude.
I had two shrimp tacos (Camaron Al Carbon) and a glass of Limonada.
The band at Motel Mexicola came over and performed two songs for me.
