I met up with L unnie for a meal.
After picking her and her luggage up in Seminyak, we headed to Brunch Cafe to have her favorite soufflé cake.
She was surprised by how bumpy my car ride was—with absolutely no cushion at all—and impressed by my driving skills that could handle even the roughest roads.
At one point, the road was blocked, so we had to take a detour, but after a few twists and turns, we finally made it to Brunch Cafe.
Thanks to the helpful parking attendant, we finally got the car parked and went up to the second floor.

L unnie ordered a burger, I ordered a sandwich, and we also got a soufflé cake to share.
She said she really loves soufflé cakes.
It was my first time trying one that day.
The surface of the soufflé cake looked like the crust of a toasted marshmallow.
It seems like I get the most chances to try new restaurants or foods when I tag along with Unnies. If I hadn’t met her that day, I probably would’ve never had the chance to try a soufflé cake in my life.

After finishing our meal, we wandered around the nearby shops looking for a rattan bag, but there wasn’t a single one in sight.
It’s always like that — I can never find it when I’m actually looking for it.
Instead, unnie ended up buying a few clothes, and we headed to the hotel where she was checking in that day.

After checking in, we ordered some iced coffee at the hotel café.
Holding the very sturdy takeout plastic cups, we started talking.
Unnie, who knows a lot about what I’ve been through, gently told me to reach out anytime I find it hard to make a decision. It was really touching.

After finishing our conversation at the café, we went up to our room on the third floor.
I’d heard that many hotels have stopped providing bottled water as part of their environmental campaigns — and it turned out to be true.
There was a water dispenser on each floor and a glass jug in the room.

“The belief that it’s clean” and “the belief that the previous guest used it cleanly.”
Without that trust, would this kind of social experiment ever succeed?
It’s a meaningful change, but selfish as I am, my safety still comes before environmental protection.
Since we ended up buying bottled water from the convenience store, the amount of plastic waste from at least one room stayed exactly the same as before the water dispensers were introduced.

It’s time to say goodbye to Unnie again.
Somehow, I feel like we’ll meet here again next year.
