In the Google Maps app, you can find posts about nearby places shared by others. While browsing through some recent posts, I stumbled upon a bakery with a familiar name: Kakiang Bakery.<\/p>\n

I visited Kakiang Bakery a long time ago during a trip to Ubud. Since Ubud is quite far for me, that was my only visit.<\/p>\n

Now that I can enjoy their breads at ‘Kakiang Bakery Denpasar’, that’s really great news!<\/p>\n

I’m already excited to taste the delicious bread and various desserts from Kakiang Bakery again.<\/p>\n

Kakiang means “grandfather” in Balinese.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the word “grandfather” seems to convey a warm and loving feeling, no matter the language. It truly feels like a magical word that bring forth comfort and affection.<\/p>\n

Grandfather. My grandfather was a kind and loving man who would often sit me next to him and draw pictures of animals. He would also prepare my favorite snacks and bring them out until I had enough of them.<\/p>\n

Jl. Diponegoro, where ‘Kakiang Bakery Denpasar’ is located, might be a bit unfamiliar to those new to Bali. Nearby, you\u2019ll find Level 21 shopping mall, Saint Joseph School, and Apotek & Klinik Kimia Farma pharmacy. While these places aren\u2019t typical tourist attractions, they\u2019re well-known among locals\u2014just mentioning their names would be enough for anyone in the area to recognize them.<\/p>\n

‘Kakiang Bakery Denpasar’ is located near a major intersection on Jl. Diponegoro, and you can easily find it by looking for a sign with a red background and a large “K.” Just keep in mind that this road is one-way, so if you miss it, it can take a while to circle back. Fortunately, I turned on my left turn signal and slowed down about 200 meters before arriving, which made it easy to find.<\/p>\n

At first glance, this three-story building may look a bit small at the entrance, but it’s Kakiang Bakery. <\/span><\/p>\n

The cream-colored exterior, red awning, and arched wooden windows give it a classic bakery charm.<\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s not shown in the photo, when I looked up, a staff member from the third floor noticed and greeted us with a warm smile.<\/p>\n

In front of the building, there\u2019s a parking space for one car, located in front of the empty adjacent building. Since that building is currently unoccupied, the parking space is available for use. However, if you plan to drive your car, you might need to find paid parking outside, as the situation could change.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this reason, currently, Kakiang Bakery Denpasar offers a discount of 6,000 rupiah off the total bill for dine-in customers who park outside and spend over 100,000 rupiah.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just so you know, if you park in front of a nearby shop with a parking guy, the fee is around 5,000 rupiah per visit (though it may vary). If you choose to park at the Level 21 mall\u2019s parking lot, there will be an hourly charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I entered the bakery, I could see a showcase filled with that day\u2019s freshly baked breads and cakes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you search for Kakiang Bakery online, you\u2019ll find the phrase “Japanese Style Pastry & Bakery.” Perhaps that\u2019s why some menu items have Japanese names like “Bento” and “Harajuku.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The cakes on display are a bit small, around 10 to 15 cm, but for someone like me in a one-person household and doesn\u2019t like big parties, they seem quite practical.<\/p>\n

While waiting for my drink, I explored the second floor.<\/p>\n

Since it was still early, there weren\u2019t many customers. The second floor is separated by glass doors, there is the indoor space and the outdoor area.<\/p>\n

When I stepped out into the outdoor area and looked down, I could see the Jl. Dipenogoro road in front of the bakery and the exit to Level 21 shopping mall on the left.<\/p>\n

Unless you stand up to peek outside, the walls makes a cozy atmosphere here. Plus, being on the second floor is not too noisy.<\/p>\n

The third floor is for staff-only, so customers aren\u2019t allowed up there.<\/p>\n

Each table here has an ordering machine, so we can call the staff even from a distance.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I walked past the showcase, I started to place my order. I got one each of the Sausage, Chicken Bacon & Corn, and Abon Ayam breads. Then, I decided to try the Tiramisu Mille Crepes, which the staff recommended as their signature dish, along with a Hot Ginger Tea for myself and a Pineapple Juice for my friend.<\/p>\n

If you’d like your bread warmed up, just let the staff know when you order.<\/p>\n

My friend and I walked past the drink preparation counter and chose a spacious spot against the wall with a sofa.<\/p>\n
